Event Description

The 2008 “Workshop on Large-scale Disaster Recovery” was held with an attempt at better knowledge about diverse experiences of large-scale disaster recovery from other economies through presentation and open discussion. The first two days of the whole program were comprised of 2 keynote speeches, each divided into several sessions, allowing participants from different regions to share their unique experiences of recovery practices on different types of natural disasters such as earthquakes, tsunamis, and hurricane. Apart from sorts of disasters, experiences were also shared from multiple angles: “Preparation for Demand and Supply of Emergency,” “Technology Application on Disaster Reduction,” and “Public-and-Private Partnership for Emergency Preparedness and Recovery.” In addition to the two-day seminar, field trips were also included during the conference. Participants visited the “921 Earthquake Museum” and some eco-villages, and then the group headed towards Chengdu City for a field visit.
